It’s been a good two years for Elliot as he now comes back to perform as a huge superstar. Example will surely draw in the crowds. UK Chart toppers like ‘Change the Way You kiss Me’ and ‘Stay Awake’ have made Example a popular music idol among fans. ‘Playing with Shadows’ is one of Elliot’s most recognized work to date, it launched him to stardom.

Imagine Dragons, a Las Vegas band (quartet) will be one of the performers for the last night. The group is the final act on Friday, August 22. This will be the group’s debut at Belsonic. Blake Shelton in California

BS fans in California will be very happy to know that Blake is coming for a series of concerts. He’ll be in: Wheatland and Mountain View on May 8, Chula Vista on September 6, Fresno on September 11, back to Wheatland on September 12 and Mountain View on the 13th, and in Los Angeles on October 4. For more detailed concert and ticketing info, check MusoTickets.

bsBlake has been frequenting California, honestly admitting that it’s mostly because of work not of personal intent. That’s not to be taken personally though, Blake is truly country musically and literally. He loves country life very much.

From 2010, he’s been staying in Los Angeles for about half a year to meet obligations for NBC’s reality show ‘The Voice’. Everything is all work for him in California, and other than that, he mentions that he’s a slug whenever in L.A.; it’s show, house, show, and house for him.  He doesn’t go around much. Places he only frequents outside of his LA shack is Adam’s residence and Christina’s, sometimes that of Mark Burnett’s and Michael Buble’s. He also stays off the sushi and abstains from yoga. Don’t get him wrong, he likes California and the warm people he comes across with but he is purebred Oklahoman. He jokes about the difference between Californian residents and him by saying that a deer in L.A. will get people to stand around it and take pictures but back at his home, a deer is an enemy! Home will always be with his wife, Miranda, at their ranch in Oklahoma.

Blake is quite a farmer too, he grows a garden filled with his own zucchini, squash, sweet corn, and etc. He also grows varied types of watermelons. People often gossip about the state of his marriage to Miranda but If there’s anything that could ever come between him and Miranda, it won’t be another woman nor his (or her) successful career, it might be his love of farming! He spends much time growing and nurturing stuff, weeding and tending. Miranda also has a farm near Blake’s, but she raises cattle, chickens, and other animals.

Justin Moore in Concert

JMJustin Moore is busy as ever, performance schedules are booked everywhere. He will be in California with Miranda Lambert and Thomas Rhett for the following dates: August 8 at Sleep Train Amphitheatre (Wheatland) and August 9 at Shoreline Amphitheatre (Mountain View). For more info, check MusoTickets.

A “New Artist of the Year” ACM nominee, Justin Moore was seen performing at Elliott Hall of Music on March 13, Thursday night. The concert was co-sponsored by SCC and Purdue Convocations. Laura Clavio (Assistant Director, Purdue Convocations) states that the event was highly anticipated, especially among young country music fans, no doubt, due to the fact that Moore is one of the hottest rising country music artists in the U.S.  Indeed, students felt they got their money’s worth. Tickets were sold affordably (US $37).

Justin has produced numbers of hits, his music and style is fresh and full of life; and his music is penned with lyrics that really hit home, not only in the case of young music lovers but also with older listeners. A freshman in the school’s College of Agriculture mentioned that when her grandmother passed away, Justin’s song, ‘If Heaven Wasn’t So Far Away’ was on her mind and heart for quite a long time.

Randy Houser and Josh Thompson have joined Justin Moore for the performances as part of the tour ‘Off the Beaten Path’, and this event at Elliott Hall of Music is part of the tour sked. The tour promotes his currently released album (of the same name). Moore tells Taste of Country that Off the Beaten Path was the most diverse album he’s ever done. With regards to his stage companions, Moore counts them as two of the most talented singers-songwriters in the country music realm.

Justin Moore’s roots would be country music but he is surely unafraid to spice things up a bit. He hails from Arkansas. In the short time he’s been on the music scene, lots of good things have unfolded for him. Among his hit songs are ‘Small Town USA’, ‘Point At You’, and the currently trending song “Lettin’ the Night Roll.”

Los Angeles Travel Guide

tumblr_lnz6m15bzk1qi4xrjo1_500_large_largeThe City of Angels. What immediately comes to mind when you hear that four words? Four words or we can make it two even—Los Angeles. Two or say four words jam-packed with amazing culture, food, sights, entertainment, diversity of people, fashion and style, freedom. It seems that four words can’t quite capture a very amazing place but there you go! Los Angeles—a beautiful name for a beautiful city.

Los Angeles can be overwhelming especially for first-timers in the city. It has a lot to offer, a whole lot to know before you can say you’re a pro. It seems impossible to capture LA with just one article. This travel guide might not make you a pro but at the very least it will prepare you for what you’re about to see. This will be very brief and we will just cover the basics. We want you to discover LA on your own, see if it delivers what it promise or if it surpasses what you expect.

About Los Angeles

  • People

LA is one of the most populated cities in the US. In fact, it seconds the city of New York. Like New York City, it is also one of the most diverse cities in the world, which can be mainly because it has a big population in the first place. There are many transplants in LA, some looking for a better pasture, some wanting to escape the harsh winters, some to pursue their dream, and others simply because they fell in love with the city, but these are just few reasons why they chose to live in LA. Aside from the natives, Asians, Latinos and Blacks certainly have high percentages in the county. Some people say Angelinos, as what people living in LA are called, are not really the warm kind. Do they mean they are not friendly? I don’t know, I guess it depends on the experience of the person. But you’d certainly find lots of minority groups in LA, maybe you’ll bump into someone from your own country.

  • Weather

Misconceptions include LA being sunny all year round. However, as you must have realized, it is not. LA is just a lot warmer compared to any other cities in the US and it receives a lot more sun than the others. January through March is considered the wettest months while June through August is considered the driest months. During winter season, temperature can reach 60F while summers can hit 80F. There is also a problem with smog in LA especially on hot summer days. To sum it up, the weather in LA is not a big determiner of when you want to visit; you can explore it anytime you want.

  • Where to Stay

Another misconception I’ve heard is LA all being luxurious. Yes it’s true, in some places. LA offers a range of hotel options for your convenience. There are family hotels and value hotels all around the city but since there is no real off-season in LA, discounts are difficult to come by. Also, especially in summers, you should book a month before your travel especially if you want to stay near the beach because it can be pretty jam-packed.

  • Transportation

Many people who have been to LA complain about its lack of public transport. They also say it is difficult to get from one place to another if you do not own a car and if you do, heavy traffic will be your next problem. However, LA does provide a number of ways to explore the city. You can either travel by subways, light-rail, buses, and shuttles or even by bike. If you do not want to rent a car, just familiarize yourself with the public transportation routes beforehand, just enough to know how to get from where you are planning to stay to places you want to visit.

  • Food

The city also offers a wide range of selection of food. Street foods are just numerous and you can also dine in five-star restaurants. Restaurants along the coast offer fantastic view and incredible food. The price of food in LA is the same all year round except during Restaurant Week, which basically means participating restaurants offering good food, sometimes with up to three-course meal, with a big discount. Remember though to reserve beforehand because it’s a pretty popular event.

There are plenty of things to do in LA: shopping in Rodeo Drive, going to the beach, checking out museums, amusement parks, partying the night away, but some of them are pricey. LA is an expensive place to visit but it offers free incredible tourist destinations for you to enjoy. Some you can enjoy for free!

The Getty Center & Getty Villa

This is one of the top attractions in LA and the good news is it’s free—if you don’t have a car because parking costs $15. The biggest and the most beautiful art collections can be found here. Aside from the beautiful art collections you’d also get to see the stunning architecture and the equally beautiful vista of LA.

Venice Beach Boardwalk

Like the Getty Center, the boardwalk is also free but also like the Getty Center, parking can cost you up to $15. However if you want to see LA like in the television, you should visit the boardwalk. You’ll get to see street performers, street vendors, quaint shops, beach-goers with their tanned skin and toned bodies.

Paramount Ranch

If you want to try Wild West Hollywood style, you can go to this movie set and entertain yourself by taking pictures or by practicing your acting skills. Ever since it was created in 1927, it has been used for filming by filmmakers especially when they want the Old West style.

Point Dume State Beach

If the noisy Venice Beach Boardwalk is not your type, you can check out Point Dume State Beach. This beach is also free and is the quietest in LA, I think.

Griffith Park

Another free tourist destination in LA, Griffith Park has both man-made and natural sights to see. The most popular is the Griffith Observatory, home to one of the Zeiss telescope where you and your kids can stargaze. However, there is usually a long line of people because there are many who wants to take a peek of the stars.

Runyon Canyon Park

Most people go to Runyon Canyon because of the view but some also go because of its off-leash pet policy. You can go there and have a picnic, watch the beautiful sunset of the West Coast or see the amazing panorama of LA.

Other places that you can visit for free are the California Science Center, Page Museum & La Brea Tar Pits, the very famous Hollywood Walk of Fame and the equally famous Hollywood sign. However, it is not recommended to go up and close with the sign. Taking a picture with you in one of the unhindered view of the sign close to the city is enough.

Promoting the Culture of Hard Work and Determination in California

Since the rise of Donald Trump to power, he has done nothing but to vilify the immigrants. He thinks that they are freeloaders who keep getting support from the government through entitlements and welfare. The truth is that immigrants are hardworking people who only want their taste of the American dream.

California is a witness to that. Being a state with one of the most number of immigrants, the people have seen just how important the immigrant community is to their lives. Those who live in California can attest that immigrants are not freeloaders. They work really hard to get their share. Some of them work hard even under unfair circumstances.

They are underpaid, but overworked. They don’t receive benefits. They are not even registered legally so they are still taxed, but they receive nothing in return. Despite these conditions, they remain in the United States, working hard for their loved ones. They also have family members who were born in the US. Hence, they have no choice but to stay.

Those who believe that Trump is right that these immigrants are a menace to the society have not seen the hard work of these people. They make judgments based on what they hear from right leaning conservative radio talks. They keep spewing hate and anger without backing those claims up.

In fact, given the difficulty of the situation of immigrants in the US, there are more immigrants who have chosen to return to their home countries instead of illegally entering the US. Studies have also shown that immigrants to the US are less likely to commit crimes than Americans born in the United States. This totally disproves the claims that the rise of violent crimes in the country is because of these immigrants.

Building everything from scratch

Immigrants understand the value of each dollar they earn. They make sure that none of their earnings are wasted. They sacrifice by working extra hours just to provide for the needs of their families. Several children of immigrants have now become successful people in the US because of what their parents have done for them.

In short, it is totally unfair to paint all immigrants with one brush and telling them to leave the country because they are drug addicts, rapists and terrorists. It is also justified that California remains as a state that protects the rights of immigrants. They have seen the impact of having immigrants in their communities and they are totally grateful of their contributions.

For instance, those who work for Sam Dunn Plumbing have ensured that Californians have well-functioning plumbing system. Huge hotels in California are successfully operating because of immigrants working as housekeeping personnel, receptionists, and maintenance staff. They have created a huge impact in the massive success of California.

In fact, California remains as one of the richest states in the US. The Trump administration has threatened California of not receiving federal funding because of how they “cuddle” illegal immigrants. The truth is that California is too big and rich that the federal government won’t survive without funds coming out of the state.

The Fun Never Stops Whenever or Wherever You Are in South California

While there are no legal boundaries that set apart South California or SoCal to the northern part, it is known to both locals and tourists that the region is composed of Los Angeles, Orange, San Bernardino, Riverside, Santa Barbara, San Diego, and Ventura.

Los Angeles and San Diego are among the region’s most heavily populated counties. In fact, Los Angeles sets the record as the second most populous city in the entire United States. Because of the rich population of each county, it is more likely to find a higher number of entertainment centers in each place. Entertainment in South California is quite richer and more vibrant compared to the other places abroad with similar population size and land mass. Take entertainment in Adelaide for example.

Malls and Concerts Galore

SoCal can offer all the sorts of things that you can to get entertained. In Los Angeles alone, there are so many attractions that you can choose from. For one, you can go to Venice and watch the sunset or attend beach parties. There are also plenty of destinations including the Getty Center, Hollywood, Griffith Park, California Science Center, Los Angeles County Museum, Walt Disney Concert Hall, Hollywood Bowl and Staples Center. If you want to stay in San Diego, there are plenty of places you visit too, including its beaches, San Diego Bay, El Cajon, and USS Midland Museum.

There are also a great number of music festivals that hit some of its counties during summer, Labor Day, and county events. You can also fill your stomach with sumptuous food during food fares conducted mostly in Summer. There are at least 8 food festivals celebrated across SoCal, like the Gator by the Bay in May, California Strawberry Festival, Sancocho Latin Music, Dance and Food Festival, and LA Times – The Taste.

Plenty of Nature Parks to Choose From

There is a wide range of things you can do in South California apart from enjoying visits to the malls and going to concerts including hiking in the vast mountain ranges of Santa Monica, Big Bear Lake, Rancho Camoanga, and Anza Borrego Desert State Park. You may also enjoy a sun tan in any of its beautiful beaches in Huntington beach, Imperial beach, Solana beach, Long Beach, Fullerton, La Mesa and San Clemente. If you’re a fan of the great outdoors then you can try camping out by the Twentynine Palms, Upland in San Bernardino, Yermo, Deep Creek Hotsprings, Lakeside in San Diego, and Warmer Springs California. There are plenty of places you can visit to do horseback riding, golfing, backpacking, cycling, snowboarding, playing sports, star gazing and fishing as well. There are also some waterfalls that you can visit while you are in Ramona, San Diego.

Whatever hobby or interest you have, there are so many things you can do while you are in SoCal. It’s just a matter of planning where and when to go and choosing what sort of activities you prefer.

What to Look For In a Great Music Shop

When you are looking for a great music shop then there are things that you need to consider before you decide or to buy an instrument in a particular music shop since you need to be sure that you are getting the right value for the money that you will be paying for that particular instrument. That is why in this post you will be able to know the things that you should be looking for in a great music shop.

So for the first thing that you should be looking for is that every product that they have in their shop is backed up with a warranty so that whatever will happen, they will be there to fix it for you. This also means that whatever instrument that you will buy from them or now are all backed up with a warranty since they believe in the quality of their products, that it will not disappoint you and since they made sure that during the creation process of their products, they placed a great value for to have high-quality products.

Then, another thing that you need to look for is that if that particular music shop has good customer service. Having a good customer service would actually mean a lot of good things about that particular shop like since they have a good customer service when something else will happen to your item; they are always there to provide a solution for you even if the item has already lost its warranty validity. Or even if just for inquiries, having a good customer service means that they would be able to respond to your needs and inquiries since that is how you can tell if they care about their customers or not.

And then most importantly, you need to find a music shop that is highly reputable and recommended by their high-quality musical instruments so that you will be able to make sure you will get the value for your hard earned money in buying a new musical instrument. One good thing that you will be able to benefit if you will buy from a highly reputable and recommended musical shop is that you do not have to really know the background or credentials of that particular shop since a lot of people trust that shop for a reason.

Therefore, it is really important that you will be able to find music shops Adelaide that does not only provide what you need but will offer you whatever they think that is best for you as well. Also, when you look for a great musical instruments shop is that you might also consider the location like since if you will be have it delivered to your house then if it is just near then you do not need to pay so much for the delivery since it is just near. So keep in mind the things that were discussed on this post so that you will be able to get the right value for your money when you are looking for a musical instruments Adelaide.

Grab Your Duffle Bag: California Weather and the Outdoors Calling Out to Camping

It is easy to forget that California is, strictly speaking, a desert. People forget this because the state produces three times the agricultural output of Australia, and is the United States’s biggest food producer. That is now in jeopardy due to the years long drought that it is experiencing.

death valley in californiaExperts say that the California drought is the worst the area has experienced in more than 1,200 years. On top of that, because it is weather that is being discussed, no one really knows when the drought would break. There have been some storms, and off-season snow in the high Sierras, but it would take more than that to bring back the dried up rivers and lakes. Meteorologists know that the end is not yet in sight.

Except for the winter sports enthusiasts, the current state of the weather has had no effect to California’s sportsmen. The skateboarders are still out, along with wake boarders, surfers, motocrossers, mountain bikers and other outdoor sportsmen. A lot of these modern day sports were born in California and the practitioners do not seem to be affected by it.

For hikers and backpackers, there is no better time to go out to the hills and forests than now. A mild and dry spring beckons, after another dry winter. Camping season started early, and enthusiasts are looking forward to getting back on the trail. This is also a good time to check the camping gear.

For a lot of people, the backpack never went out of fashion. Nowadays, there are different versions of the venerable bag, especially those under the category of “bug out bag”. This growing niche is built upon the concept of doomsday preppers, where a bag filled with necessities is always on standby and ready for any type of Armageddon. It also happens to be a good bag to have for those who are always on the go, like traveling salesmen, and circuit speakers. Along with these large backpacks, military duffle bags such as those from Pack-it-in Pack-it-out are also gaining in popularity. There are many reasons for the popularity of these bags. For one, there are a lot of ex-military personnel who prefer to use them. For another, these are no-fuss bags which are designed to resist rips and tears, and to carry a heavy load.

The draw of California has always been the warm weather. This has made it very attractive for those who don’t like the snow. The abundant sunshine is also the reason for the great agricultural produce. It is not a stretch to say that almost every major American farm produce can be planted in the state. It may not be the bread basket, but it comes close to being the pantry for the rest of the country.

On top of the farms, the state has hiking trails and camping grounds of all sorts. These can accommodate backpackers, hikers as well as RV campers. Whatever equipment you may have, there is a camping ground available for your use.

Fisherman camping at a wilderness lakeToday’s campers are a lot different from those of just ten or five years ago. Nowadays, every outdoor activity has some high-tech app or gadget to go along with it. The proliferation of wearables, and fitness tech like FitBit and apps for iOS and Android, as well as connected cars and recreational vehicles make camping that much easier. You can bring your truck to the campground and pitch your tent on the flatbed. There are different portable devices which are either rechargeable via a USB connection, or even with a solar cell battery. Most cars now have USB connectors which can recharge different devices. There are even USB-powered small refrigerators, not to mention battery powered coolers. It is no longer necessary to fish in order to eat. You can bring your own supermarket bought steak with you to the campsite. You can even cook the steak on a portable inductive range if you want to. Propane powered ranges are still available, however, the ease of use and safety of inductive ranges have made them a viable alternative for campers, as long as there is a power source.

Camping is a time-honored tradition for the American family. It is childhood experience which parents would want to relive with their own children. Living in an urban area makes a person distant from the needs of the wild green canopy of a forest trail. A camping trip can be rejuvenating, and it can recharge batteries. In an increasingly developed world where a cell phone and internet access has become a necessity, the throwback of sleeping without electricity brings things into a different perspective.

Bruno Mars in the Philippines

bruno-mars1Filipinos in California may be envious of Bruno Mars; he was just in the Philippines the past week, enjoying the warm affection of Filipino fans. Bruno Mars who is half-Filipino, included the Philippines in his list of countries to visit for his ‘Moonshine Jungle’ tour. Other Asian countries are also scheduled before the Honolulu concert dates; check MusoTickets for a more complete listing.

It was a great weekend for many Filos who were at Mall of Asia that weekend. The International Pyromusical Competition was held there and March 22, 2014 was the culminating day. What a great treat it was for those who arranged to end the night with Bruno Mars in concert. Attendees described the event as absolutely explosive!

As expected, Bruno Mars’ second visit to the country was well received. People bought tickets in advance, causing a sell-out weeks ahead. The venue was packed with people; it was standing room only. Traffic around the mall vicinity was heavy. It was hard to get around and find parking spots. Surely, people were glad that Bruno went onstage an hour and forty-five minutes after opening time. What a relief!

His first song was ‘Moonshine’ (from Unorthodox Jukebox). The people were quickly on their feet dancing and humming along to the music. If ever they minded the delayed appearance of their idol, it didn’t show. Everyone was into the music.

Bruno dressed himself in a loose, unbuttoned shirt, pants, vest, and the trademark fedora. He performed with his backing band, The Hooligans. The performance was really ‘high-energy’. That Bruno can sing and dance is known all over, but it’s hard not to really appreciate how skilled he is in keeping up the energy all throughout the show, showcasing excellent vocals and performance skills. Fans delightedly got to see him using different instruments again, reminding watchers of his status as an all-around, well-rounded musical artist.

Bruno Mars spent the night talking about the Filipino part of him. He even mentions knowing that Filipinos are known as singers, and are fond of karaoke singing. All through the night, he let off every bit of charm he has; that could also be part of his Filipino heritage; Filipinos are known to be charmers, very hospitable and accommodating.

Experience the energy and charm of Bruno Mars live. Catch a concert date near you.
